We've updated the DotNetNuke Quick Start Guide that was created in August 2005, expanded and improved the content.

Here are the new details of the tutorials:

These free video tutorials are for beginners to DotNetNuke. They give you a quick overview of DNN with just enough information to get you going, without becoming lost in the full details.

These videos provides a foundation for getting started with DotNetNuke and will lead onto the other tutorials which provide more detailed explanations.

DotNetNuke Performance Enhacements

There's an interesting discussion happening in the Asp.net forums disussing who's DNN installation is the fastest. - You can have a read of it here: http://forums.asp.net/thread/1235032.aspx

It covers some of the techniques they are using to increase the performance of DotNetNuke.

It reminds me of the time when I was seriously into overclocking and would spend hours tweaking motherboard settings to squeeze another Mhz out of the CPU!

Reading the post reminded me that I had disabled the Blowery compression from my DotNetNuke installation and that I should re-enable it immediately. - This is one of the quickest and easiest methods you can use to increase the performance of your installation.

Basically using the HTTP compression technique reduces the size of your pages, therefore decreasing the page load times for your users. - I'm also hoping this will save me bandwidth costs as well, but I guess it depends on how the hosting provider works out the bandwidth useage. - I will wait and see on that, but potentially it is going to cut my Bandwidth useage for this month by 10.2GB - a pretty big saving.

114 DotNetNuke Videos

Well, I've gone past the 100 mark. Issue 8 of DNN Creative Magazine has been released with 18 videos and has brought the total to 114 DotNetNuke Tutorial Videos.

I didn't think I would break the 100 mark so quickly! - The amount of content seems to have rapidly grown, especially with the new skinning tutorials.

Eight months of the DNN Creative magazine have now gone past and it's absolutely flown by. I'm still really enjoying creating the tutorials and it's especially encouraging when I receive a lot of positive feedback from the users of DNN Creative.

The question some beginners may find is "Where do you start" - if you are new to DNN Creative I would recommend that you follow each of the tutorials through in issue order number as each issue builds on the knowledge in the previous issues.
